Bilston Batterseas story begins in 1968, when the twentieth-century revival of English enamelling began in Bilston, with the forming of Copper Enamels (Bilston) Ltd., by the Marshall family. Two years later, the name was changed to Bilston & Battersea Enamels and an innovative venture with a London-based antiques dealer, designing boxes based on those made in Georgian times, promptly followed.

It lacks, however, the finesse of Battersea enamelware, produced in London between 1753 and 1756. It remains impossible to distinguish between the products of the various Bilston enterprises. Copper Enamels (Bilston) Ltd. established in 1968 by the Marshall family, built upon the handed-down knowledge of the craft of enameling on copper.In 1970 the name was changed to Bilston & Battersea Enamels and in an innovative venture between a London-based antiques dealer, who designed boxes based on those made in Georgian times, Bilston & Battersea Enamels saw the revival of an English craft established in its original home.
